Authorities shut down all Khan Al Saboun outlets
Authorities have shut down all retail outlets and warehouse of a famous company selling herbal products for a month for tampering with expiry dates. The firm has been identified as Khan Al Saboun.
During a surprise raid at the warehouse in Duhail, inspectors from the Consumer Protection Department (CPD) at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce seized huge quantities of herbal products with forged expiry dates.
Inspectors, in collaboration with security personnel, launched the crackdown based on information from unidentified sources.
The inspection team found several pieces of a product with tampered expiry dates. The original date was deleted and a sticker was in place showing a new expiry date, said a statement issued by the ministry yesterday.
During further inspections, large quantities of herbal products with forged expiry dates were detected. A machine used for printing new dates was also seized.
The company manager confessed to the crime and admitted that he was selling products with forged expiry dates at various outlets.
He was booked for violating Article No. 7 of Law No. 8 of 2008 on consumer protection and Article No. 14 of its executive regulations.
The seized products will remain under the ministry’s custody until legal procedures related to the offence are completed and will then be destroyed.
The commercial frauds could result in the closure of the shop for one month, said the ministry.
Complete close out shall be implemented.
they closed one shop at LULU GHARAFFA, may be due to lack of sale?
Monetary loss will be HUGE for the owners.
closure of the shop for one month is too light for such offense coz consumers health is at risk, the license should be revoked!
