Almost 70% of Qatari residents shift to lighter, safer Shafaf cylinders

Qatari consumers are warming up to the new green and blue Shafaf gas cylinders, which has been in the market for some time now.

The light-weight cylinders, which are also very safe and user-friendly, has seen a recent spike in sales thanks to severe shortage of older, metal ones.

It is understood that at least 70% of people living in Qatar currently use Shafaf cylinders.

“There is an acute shortage of metal cylinders. The gas refilling plant in Industrial Area has almost stopped refilling metal cylinders. We haven’t got any refilled metal cylinder from the plant for the last two days. Now, we’ve no option but to ask our customers to shift to Shafaf cylinders which are easily available,” Qatar Tribune quoted a retailer based in Al Mansoura area as saying.

Woqod had recently extended its popular exchange offer — QR100 discount to people exchanging their metal cylinders for Shafaf ones — till December 31.

During this period, a customer can get a new Shafaf cylinder for QR265, instead of the regular QR365.
