African expatriate gets five years in jail for theft from shop

A Doha Criminal Court recently punished an African expatriate to five years in jail and subsequent deportation.
The man was charged with breaking into a shop and getting away with 25 mobile phones, 100 watches, a laptop and some cash, reported Gulf Times.
He received an additional three months of jail time for breaking into the shop under the influence of liquor. The man, who was intoxicated, used an iron bar to break the shop’s door and grab electronic items and money before fleeing.
The shop’s owner became aware of the robbery the next day and reported the matter to the police. Further investigations helped nab the African expatriate.
