Global leaders to speak about wars and peace initiatives at Doha Forum
The 22nd edition of Doha Forum, set to commence on Saturday, will be a leading platform for addressing major global challenges amidst escalation of conflicts and accelerating pace of violence in today’s world.
Doha Forum General Manager Maha Al Kuwari said the two-day forum, being held under the theme ‘The Innovation Imperative,’ represented a pivotal opportunity for policymakers, thought leaders, and innovators to meet, exchange ideas, and explore avenues for impactful and effective solutions.
She noted that the major global event highlights the importance of collaboration as a driving force for achieving mutual understanding and addressing global challenges.
Al Kuwari was proud about Doha Forum’s prominent international standing, emphasizing its influential role in shaping policies and decision-making among participating countries.
This year’s edition will over 4,500 participants from more than 150 countries, with more than 300 speakers, including seven heads of state, seven heads of government and 15 foreign ministers.
The forum will also be attended by senior officials and leaders of regional, international, and UN organisations.
The forum will offer in-depth insights on various global issues through more than 80 discussion sessions, which will enhance the forum’s outcomes and contribute to providing practical results that reflect the drive for impactful and constructive action worldwide.
Al Kuwari said this year, the forum aimed to provide innovative solutions that address current challenges and contribute to making a tangible positive impact.
Al Kuwari emphasized that the 22nd edition of the forum would focus on a number of important topics and urgent issues to enhance discussions and produce the best solutions to assist decision-makers.
The forum’s agenda will cover a wide range of issues reflecting the scale and diversity of global challenges, including geopolitical issues, emerging technologies, global security, economic development, and cultural diplomacy, she noted.
Al Kuwari spoke about the forum’s status as a prominent global event since its launch in 2000, highlighting the partnerships the forum has established with leading research centers and think tanks worldwide, creating a conducive environment for constructive dialogue and diplomatic collaboration.
She pointed out that the Doha Forum has become an indispensable platform for global leaders, where they gather to discuss shared challenges and work on crafting innovative solutions that meet the needs of a changing world.
Al Kuwari said this year’s theme ‘The Innovation Imperative’ reflects the importance of developing innovative solutions that address the complexities of the digital age, adding that innovation is essential for sustainability and development across various fields, from the economy and international relations to conflict resolution and humanitarian aid, as well as other pressing issues such as security, climate, and the global order itself.
