Elibriea, one of Qatar's most ambitious project in the automotive industry is set to be launched in Qatar soon. It will be showcasing the first-ever Qatari sports car that is made in Qatar.

You read that right! Elibriea was conceptualized and developed in Qatar and is the only automobile of its kind to bear the "Made in Qatar" tag.

The car was developed under the umbrella of Texas A&M University at Qatar and was initiated through funding from QNRF (Qatar National Research Fund) and then sponsored by one of Qatar's biggest brand names - Ali Bin Ali.

Stay tuned to find out more about this awesome car on Qatar National Day, 18th of December.

In sprite and zest of celebrating #QND2015, you may follow Elibriea on Facebook and Instagram to obtain full HD wallpaper on 18th December.

Qatar Living is the official online publisher for Elibriea. Stay tuned for more updates.

Whilst I have great admiration for the venture, I do believe that this marketing / PR exercise is a little over the top.

We've been given the same infor for the past six months.....

Launch on national day? where was this told? cause ppl would be busy in attending the parade, who will do a launch on National day, unless the car was to be rolled on the parade :)

Ahan, Got it...but I believe with too much of oil money the government can run secret special projects....so in case if they fail ...there is no big deal abt it...cause no body know

mountneer88: Building an engine and gearbox from scratch requires lots of money and effort.

Perhaps they mean that the body, chassis is made in Qatar and the rest assembled in Qatar. Anyway, big day tomorrrow.

@wild Turkey, do you think the engine could have been built in Qatar, i see lots of scientic developments going on Stars of Science , QBEC etc. so could they have built an engine as well?

By mountneer88• 17 Dec 2015 16:16
mountneer88

yes, as a matter of fact i checked facebook page but it doesnt say anything about engine, only that its made in Qatar

Can't wait to see the engine configuration and who built it .. Tomorrow can't come soon enough

So, the long motor block, the transmission, the suspension, all Made in Qatar? Wow. Even GM buys axles from a German producer.

Sanuga: I totally agree with Rolls Royce example. Lycan as branded as first arabian sports car was made in Italy, with German engine, parts from China and thats how most products built these days (except in China, Chaina makes everything in China :) ) Elibriea is actually made in Qatar

britexpat: the car was not developed by students, as Sanuga mentioned it was developed by Abdul Wahab Z. he was a collegue of mine. So basically that car was built by 1 person which on its own is insane! Also the front of the car is more aerodynamic then most other cars so in my opinion its more practical.

Sanuga: The world is moving the other way. The days of the niche car manufacturer are over. Congratulations to the student team, but i can't see it being viable commercially or financially

BTW, Tesla runs purely on electricity.

By 10 years, we might be driving Tesla cars which may command average of 500HP+, have you read about Tesla. Current Model S Ludicrous options already running at 762 hp --- goes (0–100 km/h) in 2.8 seconds. Also, thanks for reading out the brochure for the Elibriea

This initiative is worth appreciating as to find alternative sources of income to Oil/Gas production to the country. It generates jobs inside the country. First model may have faults but its not the last, endless improvements not impossible. Initially parts can be from Reputed brands and within 10 years In-house production. Technology, Design, Production & Assembly all inside Qatar could limit its demand. How about Qatar made car with a Rolls-Royce Engine? Later all made in Qatar. However its a good move and several marketing strategies should put together to develop, which is not possible overnight.

Elibriea Automotive is Qatar's first sportscar brand, founder by Abdul Wahab Z. The first prototype features 525bHp powertrain with mid-engine architecture and is scheduled to be launch in Qatar Motor Show 2016.

It looks like hotwheels, I am sure the students done a great job putting this car together. Just wondering, if all parts are made here in Qatar as well, then that's a great effort and also leading the way. But if sourced parts from different automakers and put together, it defeats the praise.

@briteexpat: you can't judge a book by its cover. you might be or you might be correct, let's wait and see until its true power is revealed.

the_rogue: Yes, they've done a wonderful job. They deserve praise.. Car beauty is subjective.. To me, the front end is not beautiful or practical.... But that's only my opinion

no single person is appreciating the effort and struggle these students had to come up with this master piece. I, for one will wait until this baby rolls on the roads of Qatar.

You can tell that the car has been designed by university students. The design is too "futuristic" and not really practical.
