Tomorrowland is beautiful, go for it today!
What would you expect from a director who gave us ‘The Incredibles,’ ‘Ratatouille,’ and ‘Mission Impossible 5: Ghost Protocol?’
Of course, a movie that’s different from the tent-pole superhero releases we’ve so gotten used to nowadays. Boy, oh boy, does he deliver!
Tomorrowland is not dark or gritty and can be called a ‘kid’s movie.’ There’s no overdose of gratuitous violence (although it isn’t completely devoid of it either) and it harks on the importance of always being optimistic.
Frank Walker (George Clooney) is a genius inventor who was once selected to be a part of Tomorrowand, existing in a dimension out of our own. However, he is later thrown out and lives a life of extreme paranoia.
Casey Newton (Britt Robertson), an eternally optimistic teenager, is also selected to be a part of that world.
Confused and confounded at first, she gradually gets used to the idea that it’s her destiny to get to Tomorrowland.
But everything is not well. Tomorrowland, which has been taken over by a tyrant, has closed every entry points into it. Only Walker can get her in. And he does so in spectacular fashion, in the Fashion Capital — Paris.
How the two finally comes to trust each other and set things right forms the rest of the story.
The movie is spectacularly made and the director’s talent lights up every frame. But Bird also speaks of some weighty issues, which tends to drag the film a bit. The complex dialogues in the final quarter seemed to fly over the heads of many in the audience. A few could even be seen walking out.
It’s no doubt an intelligent movie and that may alienate audience who’re in it for the escapist aspect of it.
Tomorrowland is a beautiful tale, told in a delightful manner. It’ll bring the inner child in you out and send him/her soaring through the air.
VERDICT: Except for the final part 20 minutes, which sounds and feels a bit preachy, everything else about this movie rocks. I’ll give it a 7 out of 10.
This film has been slated in USA and looks to be a flop
Awaiting :)
and went to see Bombay Velvet and puked on britey's face and came out quietly from the theatre....:(
Arranged to see it with Rizks. When we got there, he discovered that it did not have Asin in the cast, so he refused to go in :O(
