Playing at a theatre near you, on June 11...
Here is a list of movies that are releasing this weekend at a theatre near you. While Jurassic World leads the way, there are enough reasons for Indian film buffs to rejoice as well.
Compared to last weekend, the number of movie releases this week has nosedived and it may probably have to do something with the Holy month of Ramadan fast approaching. While Jurassic World is going to be the biggest release, there are a few other options as well.
For movie fans from Kerala, Premam is releasing on Thursday and that should bring a smile to their faces. It is said to be a nostalgic trip down the memory lane.
1. Jurassic World
Genre: Thriller/family/fantasy
Director: Colin Trevorrow
Stars: Chris Pratt, Judy Greer, Ty Simpkins
Steven Spielberg, who made the world fall in love with Dinosaurs all over again, will act as an Executive Producer for this one. The advance reviews all say that it is a worthy sequel to one of the biggest franchisees the world has ever seen. Isla Nublar is open again and a new, man-made raptor is on the prowl. This is going to blow you away. So watch it on a glorious Imax 3D screen.
2. Preservation
Genre: Mystery & Suspense, Horror
Director: Christopher Denham
Stars: Pablo Schreiber, Aaron Staton
The movie tells the tale of two brothers who could not be more different from one another. While Sean is a recently-returned army veteran, Mike is a hedge fund manager. They, along with their wives, go to a closed nature preserve out of town to hunt. Sean is disenchanted with military life while Mike is in a constant race to amass riches. But all that cease to matter as an unseen force starts to hunt them. They must survive, and fight back, or risk losing their lives.
3. Premam
Genre: Romance/drama
Director: Alphonse Putharen
Stars: Nivin Pauly, Madonna Sebastian, Sai Pallavi, Anupama Parameswaran
It is the romantic coming-of-age movie of a youth named George David. He falls in love with three girls, during three different stages of life. It takes the viewers down a nostalgia-laden road and is filled with laughter and tears.
4. Hamari Adhuri Kahaani
Genre: Romance/drama
Director: Mohit Suri
Stars: Emraan Hashmi, Vidya Balan
The film, which literally translates to ‘Our Incomplete Story’ is supposed to be a romantic tearjerker. Emraan Hashmi is a hotel magnate while Balan plays the role of a florist who’s also a philosopher at heart. The story takes a lot of twists and turns. And there’s also a lot of emotions at play. Definitely carry your handkerchief with you.
5. A Mouse Tale
Genre: Animation
Director: David Bisbano/Mychal Simka
That this is a straight-to-DVD film does not inspire a lot of confidence in a viewer. But for what it’s worth, the movie is about two young mice, who in order to save their kingdom from evil rodents, go on a quest to a forbidden world in search of a legendary magic crystal that has the power to restore order to their kingdom.
