Jeep Cherokee XJ vs Land Rover Disco

Hello,
I'm planning to get my a rig for enjoying desert and camping in Qatar.
I am hesitating between jeep cherokee XJ and Land Rover Disco. I know that both has pros and cons.
But I would like to know in Qatar which one is better (especially when it comes to maintenance and mods?)

to be honest I don't want to go for a cruiser.....
Nissan Xterra, is a good option, thanks for highlighting that
land rover is supposed to be expensive also.
obviously land cruiser is the easiest thing, every shop has parts and modifications.
consider nissan xterra, armada maybe...the big Fords, explorer and expedition....fairly easy to maintain and plenty of parts. I find more modifications available on usa version of amazon than you will find here in doha but ive not done off road modifications

Actually I'm looking for a budget 4x4 (preferably stock) in order to modify a bit as per my needs.

Jeep spare parts are indeed costly. You will find them o-n-l-y at the agents. Couple of years back, a QLer owned one and he had off and on advised others at QL that he bought in his spares through online purchase and had them shipped to Doha. Hence, this may be one of the reasons you don't get to see many Jeeps in Qatar. I do not have much information on Land Rover as to its cost of spares and performance.
