Tagalog in QL

Any reason why some kabayans use tagalog in QL? I agree that QL is a community site for all nationalities and all language speakers. However, I would say the widely spoken language within this forum is ENGLISH. So why still some Pilipino's raise questions ONLY to their fellow kabayans, and type what they need to say in tagalog?

I can’t understand why they are using QL for this purpose. If they really want to use tagalog and raise questions to kabayans only, is there any other sites where they can interact with their fellow kabayans and serve their purposes?

They don’t realize especially when you read a chain of comments forwarded to a question, you really get stuck when someone type something in tagalog.

PLEASE! THIS IS NOT TO OFFEND ANYONE! JUST TO GET A CLARIFICATION AND TO SEE HOW MANY OF YOU AGREE WITH MY COMMENTS.

I have no problem with Filipinos speaking Tagalog in their own forum, but ... Surely if they are looking for help, they are limiting the amount of help they potentially could recieve to their own social group and could be missing out on a lot more relevant info. Just my musings.

Why? You don't have to be ashamed if somebody posted a tagalog comment, specially if its under the Filipino Expat Group.

In case you have seen some tagalog post in the forum which is not under the group, won't you mind translating it in english so that you can help our Kababayan who cannot express themselves in english..

Hey Everyone!!

I myself is a newbie here and I would say that I am not aware that there are groups dedicated to a specific nationality. When i joined this site, i'm pretty much certain that the language medium will be English (well I think it has to be since we are in a foreign land)

I would love to join the Filipino Group so as to communicate with few friends in Doha. Likewise, I love interacting with other nationalities because through interaction we'lll be able to gain knowledge about their culture, do's and dont's in their religion to enable us to set our minds so that respect will not be so hard to practice.

We all know that in any Foreign site we should practice proper decorum and part of it is by using the language not stranger to others and that's ENGLISH..

Yes you are right. When I am reading some thing and suddenly tagalog comes up, I get totally confused.

Philipino friends try to use English as this is the only language understood by all.

ENGLISH IS A UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE!

So,please to all my kababayans for you to be understood by other nationalities & give respect to those who don't speak TAGALOG, please use the appropriate line of conversation. If you can't write it down ask somebody to assist you.

Filipinos are known to be good english speakers!

Tagalog is allowed in Filexpat forum. It rarely crops up anywhere else, and if it does the Filexpat moderators do a good job of pointing it out to the guilty parties.

Hi Tatess, I'm referring to the main forum.

I know that there is a forum for kabayans. However, I didn’t know that it takes a while to have the new user’s subscription to the filex to get approved.

No doubt kabayans are a very friendly community and I really enjoy their company.

If you are referring about the QL main forum? yes ,you are definitely right,English should be the language of choice but if you go to Qatar groups filipino expatriates then that is a different story. Here we are allowed to communicate in Taglish(tagalog-english).So there is no reason for us look for any other filipino websites .There might be some of us posted Tagalog in the main forum but that was probably by mistake or some are not yet a subscriber of Filex thus prohibiting them to log stories or some Filipinos are really stubborn enough to post in the main forum.

As I said on my main question, this is not to offend anyone. This is just to know why someone does that.

fyi, the owner of the site provided us a group called QL Filipino Expatriates where all Filipinos can freely express/discuss issues pertaining to Filipinos living in Qatar.. http://qatarliving.com/group/filipino-expatriates-in-qatar if you happen to read purely tagalog conversation, check the heading maybe you entered the group page.. now when someone converse tagalog on the "main forum" of QL, this is where the admins of this group http://qatarliving.com/group/filipino-expatriates-in-qatar do their work, to moderate and explain to translate their posts in english, nor refer to the group...

hope this clarifies somehow...

The new Filipino members who are checking the site are getting confused between seeing the posts under the Filipino Expats group in Tagalog and the main forum. Being a new QL member, they can't open those threads under the group until they subscribe to the group.

Until they get the approval for the subscription, you will see them confused between posting in Tagalog and English.

We all know that the General Language to post on the main forum is English. You can post with your own language if you wish under your group and there are many other groups who do that. Who wants to speak German, French or Urdu ...

Guess it is just a small misunderstanding here ...
