Arabic Classes

There were several post in this regard, but not much informative. Pls advise
-- Is there the FREE Arabic classes whch was provided
earlier in the Spiral Mosque ? ( near Souq )
-- How good was it ? Does it make you speak / read Arabic
I dont mean to write
-- which are the other Arabic classes ? fees ? timings

-Yes, they do have Free Arabic classes at FANAR, I used to attend the classes about a year ago, but had to stop bcoz of my work timings.
-I had some background about the arabic letters so the classes were quite good and informative for me. I should say, i really used to enjoy the classes. For a person who doesn't have any arabic background at all , initially its a bit difficult to catch up but gets going later on, just as any other place.i have seen a few of my classmates from the west, initially struggling but pick up later on.the course is divided into 4 levels and each level is of 3 months duration. this course is sponsored by the awqaf (religious government body).
- not too sure abt the other courses, but there used to be a course in CHN institute. not sure how good it was.
