Teaching qualification in qatar
By Manju Srikanth •
Hi ,
I am expecting suggestions about the required qualifications to work as a teacher in doha. I have bachelors degree with teaching experience for two years and various job experiences. Will TEFL or TESL or cambridge CELTA be an added advantage for me being a non native english speaker? If not, what are the qualifications required? Could anyone help me with some proper guidelines?
You need an attested certificate, otherwise the Ministry will not allow you to work as a teacher.
In Qatar, the most significant "qualification" required for a teacher is being a "native" speaker of the English language. Whether you know the basics of English grammar or not, or are unable to write a single sentence in grammatically correct English, does not matter at all. You may be able to find a job at schools managed by the colored people, but western schools here seek teachers of their nationality and skin colour. And the “native” speakers get paid well along with facilities and perks. Your qualifications and experience mean nothing to them.

Like muad-db suggested check with schools you would like to teach at. Most international schools offering a UK or IB or country specific (UK, US, French, etc.) will require a valid teaching degree and license from that country.
TEFL is good .... Check with local schools
