The Health and Fitness industry here is completely and utterly undeveloped. There are major differences in health between the different groups which live in Qatar. Smoking is the norm, food choices/education is very poor, diet is very poor, and the general population has no access to proper fitness facilities. There is a large pool facility at the Aspire complex, yet the common person in Qatar, and who needs these services/facilities the most, are completely unable to afford the cost. I am afraid, that its all about money, and anyone who tells you anything different is pulling your leg.
Most of the health and fitness instructors here are from Asia and other Arab countries. I only know of 2 that are from the "West". The majority are cheaper to hire and "easier" to control than Western employees, in that they work 10 - 12 hour days perhaps 6 or even 7 days a week sometimes.
Many are well qualified but because of their nationalities they are not paid as well as a Westerner would be.
You may be able to get something at one of the 5* hotels but again, most of them are Asian/Arab and you'd be an expensive employee in comparison. That said, you might be considered just because you are Western and that might be a "selling point" to Western members?
