To my knowledge and experience, using porcelain dishes to cook or heating is most advisable. If you can avoid all plastics even if they carry "Microwave Usable" labels it is best.

Having said that I find using microwave is clean and best, most efficeint and advisable.

Best of luck!

If you follow these instructions, it is safe.

Most problems arise when one does not follow safety instructions which are mainly:

1) Heat food in microwave safe dishes only. Some people actually heat food with plastic wrap or non-micro safe dishes causing plastics to contaminate the food.

2) After heating, let it stand for a few minutes. The food microwave still has the molecules moving. That is why microwaved foods are hottest inside than outside.

3) Only put food inside the microwave. You cannot imagine what all weird things people put in it.

4) Some foods should be cooked and should not be microwaved. Not all foods can be microwaved.

5) Cook food at their recommended setting. Do not under cook foods as this leaves bacteria alive. Always cook based on the recommended microwave time.

Don't worry, the radiation is different from gamma rays or the type that is harmful to human (unless you put your head inside then it will cook your head). The radiation dissipates once the machine is off (it never stays or contaminates the food).

ALWAYS REMEMBER: Stand far away from the microwave when it is working. It can harm or kill cells and aid in the formations of some cancers.

P.S. This information is copy - pasted from another website. Not mine, hehee :P
