IVF Treatment in Doha
Hi All,
I am a new member of Qatar Living. Having carried out some research about IVF I haven't been able to get a definite answer from anywhere on the internet. My question is regarding IVF treatment.
I have been offered a job in Doha, however in the UK my wife and I have been trying for a baby here but with no luck yet and the NHS have said the next option is IVF, however, we haven't been referred yet.
I am contemplating whether we should have IVF here (UK) or in Qatar. My question is, Do Doha offer IVF to expats? how much does it cost? how long does it take for the whole process from seeing a GP to IVF? because in the UK under NHS as you are probably aware it can take months to months.
Any advice would be appreciated from people who have had the experience, are looking to go through it or can advise on what I should do? should I wait under NHS or take the job and move.
thank you all
EDIT: There are a number of healthy facilities that may be able to answer your question, we recommend contacting Hamad Medical Corporation on 4439 4444

Hi, you might be in Qatar now and its too late to give you this response but just to update as well others who are having the dame question. I am also an expat in Qatar, currently working here with my husband and we are also trying to have our own baby. We have been through the infertility process apprently we were only given the option for IVF.well...as the doctor said,we should be happy as this is oir option.i was sad at first but yeah! I then realize at least we have this option, so now we are trying to save up for this...so to answer ur question, expats are offered IVF too in Hamad and the doctor said it will cost us 11,000 QAR. Lets be positive in life and i wish u and ur wife all the best.
thanks guys for all of your responses. I will try to call them from the UK tomorrow and hopefully get a response too. Someone I know said they went Bahrain to get it done. I will have to take all of that into consideration. I heard about Hamad not doing ivf for expats but i thought they changed that law again. is there any news on that ?
Al Ahli will be really costly.
I realized this when I tried to find out what they were charging for treatment of cataract. From what I learnt their charges for this minor surgery was around QR 13000. In my country this surgery gets done at just QR 1000 at one of the best hospitals.
May Allah bless u with child without any treatment..amen

brother hamad hospital is doing ivf treatment..but nowadays its closed for expats now they are doing only for qataris ..in past they charge around 10000 rial plus medicine expense 2000...and if they open again for expat u have to wait for long time to get ur term.other option is private hospitals..i think al ahli hospital is also doing and may be some other as well.but it will be more costly then hamad hospital..u can call alahli hospital and get info from them..
No, I don't nor do I know of anyone who has gone through this treatment. I suggest you talk to the doctor or the medical centre directly for all the details. I may be able to get you the doctor's email address if you wish me to do so but that will be only tomorrow. I am not sure however, if the doctor would share this information with me.
acchabaccha : thanks for your reply. are you aware of the cost of treatment there? or know anyone who has had it done?

kami786: Yours is a difficult question to answer or advise as it involves several factors with two of them being very important: the great desire for a child and then the demands of relocating to possibly a better job.
With regards to medical issues involved in your case, I suggest you take the advice of an IVF specialist in Doha. This will enable you decide the course of action best suited to your needs.
