Hello,
What complications can occur if a newborn does not cry immediately after birth?
Could it be a problematic or just irrational belief?
One of my neghbour is worried about his yesternight born baby.
Thanks.

Yes, a new born baby has to cry otherwise her brain will not get oxygen immediately and this will bring serious complications later. You see when the baby is in the womb it doesnt breath through the nose but by umbilical cord so when it comes out there is no oxygen going in through the nose since the baby doesnt know how to breath so the nurse will hit their tiny buttocks and they will respond to the pain will a yell which automatically opens the nose and the lungs start pumping oxygen.

hmm.. some kids do not cry for 10-15 minutes even ... but .. the kid has to cry ... if he doesnt, there is a possibility that his brain can have a lack of oxygen supply. which can cause complications...

this happened to my daughter .. she didnt cry at that time.. and now when we had her MRI, there was some issues with the white matter in her brain... which IS MOSTLY because of the lack of oxygen...

hope every kid gets well.

it is not irrational belief

thee is a scientific logic behind it

the baby, who was in the the protection of cozy womb within the fluid, suddenly comes out of it and to this world.... the baby HAS TO cry.

that is the reason - doctors / nurses / midwives used to tap the baby to make him cry..

I dont want to scare you or your neighbour

Pls do crosscheck with the doctor.. and have a close watch on the baby if there is any developmental delays.
