Hi guys! Maybe you can give me ideas on how to tell my manager to close his office door when smoking. I get dizzy and sick because of the smoke. Help!

I suggest you to buy one small fan and put it on your desk.

Some stupids never care of others, they born to disturb others and will do the whole life, no one can teach them anything untill they got something from god.

Keep patients, don't be in trouble because of this.

All d best

Bring fire extinguisher and spray it to your incosiderate Manager. And then we will see. Just joking.

Tell it honestly and politely and I am sure he will consider closing the door while smoking.

If still he does not close the door while smoking, print the Municipal Law on smoking in bold print or the no smoking sign in your table. I am sure he will understand.

Easy solution: when he lights up next time, get up, knock on his door "Mr.X, can I close your door because I am having trouble breathing because of the cigarette smoke..I guess it is because of the cold weather"...

He is bound to say "Sure, of course..i am also not feeling well because of the climate"..because

1. u did not ask him to close the door, u are closing it urself..

2. u are not blaming him,u are blaming the weather..he will join sides with u..

repeat the exercise each time he smokes..but seriously, dont expect him to close the door by himself, most probably you will ending up having to close the door each time he lights up.

if u cant stop the beat, dance with the tune instead. lolz...join him i mean.

the thing is, its really not safe to smoke. jst kinda be polite and tell ur boss, f u wanna die, do it at your own risk..but spare me!

Well in this case either tell him directly or try to hang out NO SMOKING board where u sit.

If this doesnt work then start coughing when he starts smoking, try this seriously, if he asks you tell him u r not confortable with his smoking and even u had gone to doctor for this. Try to keep some article against smoking or how to avoid being with smokers on your table so that your boss should see them. If he is intelligent enough then he will try to reduce it.

You say: "Excuse me, I have asthma and I can't handle all the smoke, can you please close the door and open a window if you want to smoke"

then he says "Sure, sorry for that"

and you say "thank you"

I don't expect any manager to be heartless enough to fire you for that.

My advice is really freaky but it works fine specially if you are a secretary or you boss is a nut case.

Call the municipal authority or police department and tell them some one (possible tell your boss name) is smoking in public place all the time and give them directions to your office. But please do the whole things anonymously. Once they will show up to your office believe me he will never smoke again with open doors specially or infront of every one.

I have asthma and I hate to inhale smoke. No body has the right to polute the air I breath. I dont wanna dia coz I not even married yet. lolz...

Peace.

Tell him politely that you are getting dizzy from cigarette smoke and cannot concentrate on your work.

By actually telling him that you are feeling dizzy about the whole thing and it makes you sick. Telling the truth in a polite manner wouldnt get you fired. Dont worry, just let him know that you have a problem with breathing and if the smoke adds to the air, its gets worst. Explain to him kindly and if possible, advice him on the ill-effects of smoking. Can't say... he might quit smoking one day.

just get up and close his door.

... i am lucky, my manager is very intelligent person.. he understands such things, and always close the door while smoking, and keeps the window at his office open...when we are having a meeting, he always asks for my permission to smoke in my presence.. :)

it is very simple ask for a week sick leave telling him that the doctor advised that you have to be in your home for a week far away of negative smoking then your boss has to do your work.

i think he will stop smoking

Have you tried asking politely?

A couple of other things to try:

1. Eat lots of caggage and fart in his doorway - see how he likes it

2. Close his door every time you walk past it

3. Move your desk away from his or ask for a transfer.

4. Get a fan on your desk pointing back at him.

5. Take regular days off to visit the doctor due to 'his affect on you'

You can go to lifestyle shop in central point mall. Then buy flower leaves which absorb the smoking smell. Give it to your Boss and inform him that if you close the door, the function of these leaves will be excellent.

Tell me with the result PLEAES.

Good Luck
