Help with Malaria Prophylactics ...

Does anyone know where I can buy mosquito repellent with DEET in it? And has anyone successfully located either doxycycline or atovaquone/proguanil here in Qatar? I really don't want to take Mephaquin on my upcoming trip.

Don't recommend Doxycycline at all. I took it for over a year in Mozambique, and ended up getting Vivax malaria. It ended up masking the symtoms, while the Malaria stayed in the liver. From now on I just try cover up, and coat exposed areas with Tabbard. You soon know if you have Malaria (headaches then blurred vision etc), then just take a dose of Coartem.

We got rub on mosquito repelleant with deet in it from the camping/car place near the gas station just past Qatar University on the Al Khor Road. I got the malaria medication from the large pharmacy at Burger King Round-about.

There should be a department for tropical diseases in HMC. If not, you must try to get it from a more developed country.
