Dream finish for Aspire Football Dreams side

DOHA: The 2016 Al Kass International Cup, a fiercely competed tournament featuring youth club sides from around the world, will stay put in Qatar this year.

Aspire Football Dreams, who defeated Real Madrid 2-0 in a pulsating tie, were crowned champions for the second time, after 2014. The game, which rose to great heights, was as exciting as it was fast.

Meanwhile, Italian side Inter Milan defeated Austria’s FC Red Bull Salzburg 2-1 in the third-place play-off.

Aspire Zone’s Acting CEO Mohammad Khalifa Al Suwaidi awarded a cheque for $75,000 to the winners. Real Madrid took home $40,000 while Inter Milan collected $25,000.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Thimothy Tarpeh Weah and Aspire Academy’s Abdulrasheed Ibrahim (five goals each) shared the Golden Boot award.

Aspire Football Dreams captain Mohamed Katana Nyanje was the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Real Madrid keeper Francisco Daniel Pujante turned out to be the competition’s best goalkeeper.
