Constipation

Can you please advise what is the good remedy for a constipated person. My friend was constipated for a long time, she already took dulcolax, movicol, eucarbon and motilium as per doctor’s advise but after she stopped taking these medications, she will suffer again. Doctor’s said there’s no problem on her colon. She drinks a lot of waters too and eat prunes. Any suggestions, especially for those having same experience. Thanks in advance

gosh that can be painful.

try to avod medicines to stimulate movement.

drink half litre warm to drinkable hot water first thing in the morning before/after brushing teeth.

wait for the morning tea/coffee for atleast half an hour. if it can be avoided, its even better.

try to avoid meats, caffeinated drinks, sodas.

eat lots of high fibre food, specially salad leaves, cucumber with skin.

one tbsp isabgol/phyllium husk(thats whats its called, i guess) in milk or water at night will also help.

exercise helps too. 30 minutes brisk walking.

Hey, know what if it seems that there is no disorder in your intestine doctors cant see, here are other possible causes of your constipation:

Ingestion of a foreign item

Gallstones

Scar tissue or adhesions

Hernia

Abnormal tissue growth

An intestinal twist or kink (volvulus)

Narrowing of the intestines

Crohns disease

Diverticulosis

A benign or malignant (cancerous) tumor

I suggest, better consult a specialist, or Internal Medecine.

Ouch. Not nice.

things need to 'loosen up' a bit... do some fruit smoothies.... its easier than just gobbling fruit.

Melons, kiwis, pineapple and some yogurt do a great job!

Try drinking herbal tea at night before going to bed. The teas made for constipation are sold here in the stores. They're called something like "Smooth Move" or something like that, and they specifically say they're good for constipation. ...and they do work.
