What is the best treatment for cholesterol rather than medication

Firstly start to exercise. Anything moderate impact, gets you breathing fairly hard, gets your heart rate up to 70 to 80% of max [to get max heart rate subtract your age from 220]. calculate what is 70 to 80% of Max HR and work roughly at an intensity that will get your HR to the recommended level.

There is an inverse relation between HDL (good cholesterol) and LDL (bad cholesterol). Exercise is the only way to increase HDL.

Don't eat a diet too low in fat as that can also reduce HDL (good cholesterol) levels. Home made olive oil and homemade Ghee (clarified butter) are the best cooking mediums as compared to commercial oils.

Eat a variable diet rich in whole grain products, meats, milk products, poultry, fish, fresh fruit, raw vegetables, cooked fresh vegetables, nuts and seeds.

What doctors say about eating poly unsaturated and monounsaturated oils and not eating nuts, poultry, milk products and lean meats is bullshit.

Avoid processed foods such as white bread, all fizzy drinks, fried foods, char grilled foods, junk foods and all sweets and deserts (a small desert after dinner is OK but don't overdo it).

Best practical solution in Qatar-

where ever you go,park your car as far as possible and reach your place on foot.

Dont use lift/elevator,rather follow the stair way.

Keep with you a bottle of water(min 2 litre),consume intermittently during the day considering it as medicine periscribed by your doctor, this is apart from your normal small intake of water during lunch/dinner.

Well it's right that you have to change your life style. If you don't want to take medication then be ready to change urself.

First of all, reduce or leave everything that comes from animal. Like red meat, diary products, etc. Chicken and Fish has low cholesterol.

If you use thee in cooking, change it with Sun Flower. Remember, many people will suggest Olive oil but it's not for cooking. When you cook olive oil, it becomes in bad cholesterol. If you want to use olive oil, use it in raw.

Try to eat walnuts, and pistachio everyday but not that much.

And the most important, do workout. Without workout, it is v v difficult to lower cholesterol. Cardio is enough. Google for cardio exercise. Running, brisk walking, cycling, etc are all cardio.

Now come to the theoretical part, cholesterol are of two types, i.e. Good and Bad. For example, nuts have cholesterol but only good one. If your bad cholesterol is very high then try to raise good cholesterol. You have to Google that how to raise good cholesterol. If you are not old then try to reduce without medication. If it came from Genetic, maybe you have to take medication then.
