I used to be a regular blood donor back home and was wondering what the criteria is here - ie do you have to have been in Qatar for a minimum amount of time etc and also where is the place to donate?

Thanks in advance

Thanks Nemoe - I will just go along to Hamad and see what they have to say - they can always say I am ineligible but it is worth asking the question

Blood donation

I donated blood this January. The month before I went on a vacation--out of Qatar. So you DO NOT have to be here 6 months in order to give blood. They do, however, ask if you have been to any country in the last year that had a problem with malaria.

Hamad Hospital blood bank is located in front of their main entrance.

Thanks for your prompt response. I have been in Qatar since last July, but I went back the UK in December, so do I fall foul of the 6 month rule?

Yes, I think you shoudl complete 6 months, after the arriaval from any other country.

This is a wise precautionary step, allowing the virus, if any, to raise its head, during this 6 months.
