Rumours are rife that the games will be officially opened by the Indian President and NOT Prince Charles (who is there on behalf of Her Majesty, The Queen) ..

Maybe Charles doesn't want to be associated with the games? Maybe he's happy to disappear into the background.

If he opened the games he would be giving them an air of credibility, which they clearly don't deserve.
