LONDON: Irish carrier Ryanair, Europe’s largest budget airline, might start charging passengers for using the toilet while flying, chief executive
Michael O’Leary said on Friday.

“One thing we have looked at in the past and are looking at again is the possibility of maybe putting a coin slot on the toilet door so that people might actually have to spend a pound to spend a penny in future,” he told BBC television.

He said this would not inconvenience passengers travelling without cash. “I don’t think there is anybody in history that has got on board a Ryanair aircraft with less than a pound.”

O’Leary has a reputation as a cost cutter, expanding Ryanair by offering low headline fares and charging extra for items such as additional luggage.

Last week, Ryanair announced it was to shut all check-in desks at airports and have passengers check in online instead.
“We’re all about finding ways of raising discretionary revenue so we can keep lowering the cost of air travel," he said.
Rochelle Turner, head of research at Which? Holiday, condemned the proposal.

“It seems Ryanair is prepared to plumb any depth to make a fast buck and, once again, is putting profit before the comfort of its customers,” she said. “Charging people to go to the toilet might result in fewer people buying overpriced drinks on board, though — that would serve Ryanair right.”

I hope they don't charge me for every pound of load that is pound it unto the toilet?

The problem is I think you’re an overeducated, 27-year-old virgin who holds the hands of superstitious old women and promises them eternity.

What they really need to do is put a timer on the door so the girl who wants to spend 45 minutes in there doing her hair and makeup when there's a huge queue forming only gets 5!

O'leary comes up with novel ideas, but I think this is a non starter..

What if you were dying for a "Number 2" and didn't have the coin or didn't want to pay.. Would he want his seats soiled ??
