I totally agree, ex.ex.expat. Better to argue online and get it out of our systems than in person. If we get tired of the argument, we can just logoff.

If QL starts editing for sexual content, then all the Philippina dating advertisements with women in bikinis would have to go, and that would hit revenues (and probably disappoint a few QL posters lol!).

Good point, but Qtel blocks all sorts of odd things--like the Middlesex University for awhile (because of the word "sex" in the name). Qtel also seems to do blanket bans on sites coming from particular countries.

I think that is the only way to go. Protect the owners of the site by making sure they conform to the QTEL guidelines regarding censorship, but don't put yourself in the position to babysit adults on a website who might get their feelings hurt. That's just ridiculous in my opinion.

Since qatarliving is a multicultural environment you can be sure that someone can find something racist in anybody's posts. This puts moderators in the position of picking and choosing, which is always a losing bet for everyone involved, even the moderators.

Do you think the owners of this site are planning to shut it down? Cause it certainly looks like it's gonna fold if it keeps going like this. :(

No need to remove entire worthwhile threads because of a few indelicate posts. If that happened, there really would be nothing left to chat about.

They haven't deleted the thread on homosexuality yet. But it is only a matter of time before someone says something too offensive.

Why they keep pick and choose what they delete? They must leave it all or delete all, not this half and half! Go see how much spam they leave.

I posted my thread before nomad_08 's and I asked legitimate questions! You deleted mine and just pointed me to the funnies section.

I think this is a serious issue. There seems to be nothing of interest that we can discuss anymore without offending someone or being censored!

Also, I suggested that rather than delete threads posted in the wrong section, you could just move them. Some people go to a lot of trouble to write a post and then you delete them just for being in the wrong section. I'm not talking about classifieds because those are a nuisance, but I am referring to other posts in the forums on topics of discussion.
