Many of us might have experienced during air-travel....

the flight which is flying in its usaual height, may come down suddenly for about certain meters, from its regular level of its path way.Why such sudden drop on the air-way? Is it any hurdles like we face on the road?
Thanks to everyone for their valuable answers.Adding something to all your points, there are air-pockets in the sky and thats why when the plane flies, its come down suddenly since there is no air on its way on the particular location.
There's a speed bump on the ground under that place.
Cars go up, planes go down.
its called turbulence its caused by irregular movement of air.
You will experience such situation when there are air turbulent or gust of wind due to change in wind pattern or pressure in the plane path. Because the plane is in the flying in the air; one will feel any external pressure pushing the plane down or up. Similar situation if you are driving a car in the path of the wind gust; it may cause the car to spin if you are driving to fast.
