Filipina facing disaster hears sandwich complaint
British expat Amanda Staunton launched a tirade about an undercooked Starbucks sandwich today, five minutes after server Angela De La Cruz learned that the remnants of her home destroyed by last month’s Filipino earthquake had been swept away by Typhoon Haiyan.
As the grim search began for survivors of the worst Typhoon in human history, Staunton also pointed out that she ordered skimmed milk, not full milk, with her mocha latte.
“Honestly, these people!” she said as she angrily pointed the keys to her Ford Explorer SUV.
“I mean, what does it take to get an order right?” Staunton asked, just after De La Cruz heard in a broken phone call with her sister that the family’s photo album had been salvaged from the floating wreckage.
Staunton’s ordeal began at 10am this morning when she entered the branch of Starbucks at Villagio Mall for a latte and chicken pesto sandwich on her way to her pilates class.
She was texting her friend, Muriel Richards, about their planned shopping trip to London when she discovered that her sandwich was a full four degrees centigrade below the optimal temperature recommended by the Starbucks Better Service Manual.
“I could barely believe it,” she said afterwards. “I mean, I could have been killed. These people don’t care. It’s all a big joke to them.”
After threatening to write a letter to Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, Staunton drove her Explorer to the nearest recycling bottle bank. “Oh, it’s no big thing. Just doing my little bit for the planet,” she noted loudly.

I can't believe some people think this is a true story...once again showing how most QLers are stupid.
Nail on the head britexpat... everyone else take a chill pill, or learn to read - "...Modified version of Dubai story from panarabiaenquirer.com" !!!
The story is making fun of the Brit. Not the Filipina :O)
perhaps they shouldn't, but i appreciate the satire and the sarcasm here.
we should still manage to smile at times like this lest we descend into despair. it's one of those things that make us strong and resilient as a people. i've been itching to get into fan girl mode because of fafa atom araullo, but found it against my better judgment.
agree with gerarra...
at this point in time they should not post anything funny or make jokes about what's happening in the Philippines.
So this story wants to be true and a lesson of life but OP posted it in Funnies section...so, what to believe???
You are funny.
Just count your blessings!and may God Bless us all.
box., we're not machines... we're human.
Thats why this is posted in Funnies.
personal is personal and business is business....do not mix both...else do not come to work during such situations or take a leave
this is what we called "double murder" (exagg.)
try to put yourself in her position brit. experienced earthquake last month, trying to save what's left, then all of them washed out the past few days? would you be able to concentrate and focus on what you are doing?
Cmon brit, give the lady a break. hearing a very sad news about your home and fmaily while you're working? somehow you'll lose your focus at that moment. and not to mention that she is very far from them. Be considerate.
And I always thought that Filipinos were best for customer service :O(
The supervisor/manager of the Starbucks should've not allowed her to come back at the station.
This is all make believe. NO brit in his / her right mind would drive a Ford Explorer.
