The name Freyja is a title meaning "lady". And since, as you say, brit, the name "Friday" derives from that, it should be clear for all of us why Friday is a 'Ladies' Day'. The Qataris have studied the Germanic mythology very well.

There was also Freyja (the Nordic Godess) after whom the day Friday is named. Her chariot was always drawn by two large cats.
