My wife is staying in Qatar in her father's sponsorship and me on my work Visa. If so Can she get pregenent? is it against the law? we are living together but for my salary i cannot get a family Visa now and so she is in her father's Visa.

If we having a marriage certificate can we go to hamad hospital for check up and delivery? (In private hospitals i heard the Expenses are too much). In our passport we are still single(bcoz we didnt get much time in our home country to change) do we have to change it to married? Then is it possible to have delivery here? Or she Must be in my sponsorship itself? what are the other procedures..? please help..

I do not want to mislead you. I am far from these legal procedures. So, I replied for the things I am 100 per cent sure.

But the information you got is enough, I think, to persuade you to change your status in passport.

Best of luck.

@ Sonia: Sorry for using "if". We are having a marriage certificate. My question to u is

1. Can she go to check up/give birth in Hamad even without changing single to married in passport.

2. If we going to change single to married in passport, can she still continue in her father's sponsorship?

3. When the baby is born, for taking passport for the baby we will need to change to married in Passport? if so.. is that the only case we have to change single to married?

@Sina: We didn't went to authorities because i heard from my friends its illegal to be pregnant when she is still single in passport even if we have a marriage certificate, also she must be in my sponsorship otherwise she will be jailed / punished.

@ Itfo: thanks for the information. Please answer the question above also.

Better to get your Marriage certifiate. Because, when you want to get a Birth certificate (which is also important) for your child in Hamad they will ask for some papers - yours and wife's Qatari ID or Passport with valid visa, your Marriage certificate etc.

DONT YOU THINK ITS LOGICAL TO GO TO THE AUTHORITY TO

GIVE YOU LEGAL ADVICES. WHY NOT GO TO YOUR EMBASSY AND ACT NOW BEFORE YOU RUN OUT OF TIME SINCE THE PROCESSING OF PAPER TAKES LONG PERIOD OF TIME. GOOD LUCK.

Hey, you've used the word "IF" for your marriage certificate..So it means both of you are not registered as husband and wife still..am i right????

Any hospitals in DOHA generally ask for HUSBAND's name and even MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE(yes,HAMAD AUTHORITIES do ask about it)as a proof to support it...

So better get your marriage certificate first if you are not having still...It would be an icing on a cake if you could change the required details(married status and others)on passport too...

All the best..

As long as Your name in the Marriage certificate is there and you get your name entersd in wife passport also to be safe.

Regarding ,HMC,they will ask what is husband name and they dont ask in whose sponsership the wife is,happily plan for a family, all the best
