Standard of living for our dog

We are new to Qatar and are hoping to import our beloved cocker spaniel.
Importing seems relatively straightforward, but we are still concerned about how much fun he will have, particularly where we can walk him and/or socilaize with other dogs. I have heard about dog walking groups but haven't found any info yet. Can anyone help me get in touch with that group or tell me your opinion ?

Thanks very much,

Dan

Ideally you should get into our Pet forum on QL.

There you will find Xena and Desert Queen frequently organise trips to the beach with their dogs. Lots of fun for the pooches. If you must bring your dog here, then you can contact one of them for a doggie get together. :)

I had the same reservations but decided that he is happier with us than being rehomed and I am glad to say that it has worked out well. Our dog has been here for a year and has settled in well, the hot summer/cold winter doesn't seem to bother him but i would advise that you get him a coat for the winter if he feels the cold, there is a very strong wind. There are less opportunities to socialise but i think that Xena is organising some classes and socialisation, I am sure she will be happy to help. Importation is ok but you really do need help, either Qatar Pet Relocators, or Doha Vets offer a meet and greet service. Customs are a complex set of procedures and having an Arabic speaker is invaluable. I used Doha Vets and it was fine. There are some lovely beaches around Doha, again ask Xena as I think she walks he dogs there. jj
