Schools closed while nurseries open?!!!!!!

As a recent sufferer of Swine(?) flu, and simply a mother, I don't understand why schools remain closed while nurseries open (where young children as my 3-y.o.are at risk)? We've been to Hamad Children's Emergency 4 times since last Tuesday, and doctors didn't want to admit we had every single symptom of Swine flu, but somehow quickly provided us with a 50 ml bottle of Tamiflu... I wonder why. When we asked if a Swine flu test is available, we were told they don't do those tests! So how on Earth local authorities know the exact number of Swine flu cases in Qatar! The only answer- they make it up. They don't care or don't want to admit the scale of this problem, like they never want to admit real HIV, drugs and crime levels in the country. To anyone reading this, PLEASE keep your children away from nurseries and shopping centres at least for a couple of weeks! Our son has developed a severe chest infection following the flu (even after being treated with Tamiflu in liquid form), and I had been diagnosed with acute bronchitis, as a secondary infection following influenza. Qatari authorities ordered 500,000 shots of not seasonal, but swine flu vaccine to fight pandemic. It was posted on Global Arab Network website referring to Qatar Tribune newspaper. As anyone can guess, if there were only 450 CONFIRMED (?) cases of the desease in Qatar, and most of the flu cases were just simple Seasonal flu, why would the Health Council bother to vaccinate every single person in the country? It never happened before with outbreak of H1N1 in the US in 2007, they never bothered to vaccinate everyone against Enterovirus epidemic in the winter of 2007 in Qatar, while there were deaths reported in Qatar amongst adults.
The truth is they were never ready for any epidemic, and as it’s happening now, they even don’t want to admit it. So parents, it’s in your hands to protect your children from infection, please don’t let them go to public places no matter how bored your children would be!

They are using the same evidence base, the same WHO guidelines and prescribing criteria as anywhere else.

Having come from the UK NHS, we should just count ourselves lucky we can get seen. If you were there, you would have been refused to be seen at emergency, instead depending on administrators over the phone or a 2 wek wait to see a GP.

I will continue to appreciate and be grateful for the care I receive here, after more than 10 years as a UK nurse watching people die from waiting lists, MRSA, restricted prescribing and priority always given to drug addicts, I know where I am best off.

they may give tamiflu like halloween candy but a person can use it once only (the whole treatment i mean) especially when one doesnt really suffering from swine flu taking tamiflu is a great risk.your immune system cant take it for the 2nd time in a short period.let alone the side effects what if after a while you have the real thing. also for adults tamiflu without relenza doesnt really work well.

our doctors back home made sure we had our seasonal flu shots before we came back at the end of the summer just to make sure that our bodies stay strong.

You may be right, for my kid also, they gave us tamiflu syrup when we went to the medical centre for a slight cold..they are not doing any tests for H1N1, and I doubt whether they know the correct number of H1N1 cases
