Hi, I am from Canada with nearly 15 years in the IT field (IT Infrastructure/Project Management/IT Audit/Management). I am looking for a position as Section Head or a Director level position within the IT department in Qatar or Dubai and would like to know the going salary (per month) in Doha or in Dubai. Thanks in advance.

Yeah you will have no problem transfering your UAE license, you can trade in any GCC coutnry drivers licenes but keep in mind that they will be taking your UAE licenes you can keep it, its an actual trade in. Im guessing 20,000 is a fair salary or 15,000 + Housing!

Keep in mind Qatar is a bit expensive... your child is 5 years old meaning he will need schooling... if this is the case then you need to know that schools are expensive here! (of course depending on the school) getting an average 1 bedroom apt here will cost you around 5000 QR/month a 2 bedroom apt is between 6000-7000 on average. No one can determine your living expenses other than you, since you can live off 500QR/month and you can spend 20,000 QR/month, thats tottaly up to you!

But in general its an expensive country!
