Recycling in Qatar

Does anybody know of any recycling program for domestic waste, available here in Doha?
It sure must hurt everybody to throw in the same bin: plastic, cans, paper, glass, batteries, etc!

Also I've noticed more frequently than I would wish to see, people (most of the time, they appear to be regional citizens) throwing rubbish on the floor. I've seen this in the streets, beaches, desert and even shopping malls!

I understand that stopping this, is a matter of education and this apparently has not been so far, generally taught (by the education system or at home) in the region.
I can see that Qatar has already started to educate their inhabitants on the pollution issues, how about recycling?

Thank you for the info!

It is rather sad, the Qatari Authorities' lack of drive, input and commitment on this cause!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It looks like a few of expats try hard to adhere/launch a recycle program.

It will be extremely difficult to achieve any significant success without a strong drive "from the top" - the Qatari authorities!!!!!

This is a universal rule and even more valid here in Qatar, where the citizen’s environmental education is generally extremely low!

The private initiatives and attempts to recycle in Qatar, although excellent initiatives with excellent intentions, they will not produce the needed results. The recycle disposal points are not easily available to the majority of Qatari inhabitants and no one actually knows if the disposed material will ever be recycle or will end damped together with the other garbage, somewhere in the desert (far away from the authorities private premises)!!!!!!

SAD... but unfortunately a common reality in Qatari "Lifestyle"!

AUTHORITIES ARE TO BLAME and media should apply pressure in exposing their passivity and indifference, as common citizens in this country have no voice!!!!!!!!!

B4 on Marhaba map, opsite Starfish Lane kids.

There are few containers for aluminuim, plastics & glass. However, I have no idea if the things are really recycled after that. Also, it is quite isolated...There might be other places around Doha but I haven't found them yet.

As far as rubbish are concerned, they have people to pick them up from the floor once they've thrown their stuff away...Not nice thinking but it will take time before they get trained to walk up to the closest bin. Who knows, things seem to hapen pretty fast here...
