No Smoking in Qatar

Excerpts of Qatari Law 20 of 2002, ragrding Regulating Tobacco Products are below.

When we see enforcement? it is now becoming quite clear that many are challenging the law of the land by smoking in prohibited areas.

Article 10
يحظر التدخين في الأماكن العامة المغلقة االتالية: Prohibits smoking in enclosed public places below:

1. وسائل المواصلات العامة.
Public transport.

2. المدارس ومراكز التعليم والتدريب والجامعات والمستشفيات والمراكز الصحية، وغيرها من المؤسسات التعليمية والمنشآت الصحية
Schools and education and training centers, universities, hospitals and health centers, and other educational institutions and health facilities.

3. الوزارات والأجهزة الحكومية الأخرى، والهيئات والمؤسسات العامة، والأندية الرياضية، ومقار الجمعيات والمحال العامة، وداخل المصاعد، ودور السينما والمسرح.
Ministries and other governmental bodies, agencies and public institutions, sports clubs, associations, and the headquarters of the assignee Assembly, and in elevators, and the role of cinema and theater.

4. المنشآت الصناعية، ومراكز التسوق التجارية. Industrial facilities, and shopping malls.

5. المطاعم، والمحال الأخرى التي تبيع الطعام والشراب للجمهور.
Restaurants, and other shops that sell food and drink to the public

Article No. 13
يعاقب بغرامة لا تقل عن مائتي ريال، ولا تزيد على خمسمائة ريال كل من دخن السجائر أو التبغ أو مشتقاته أو سمح بالتدخين في الأماكن المحظور التدخين فيها.
Punishable by a fine of not less than two hundred riyals and not more than five hundred riyals each of smoked cigarettes or tobacco products or smoking allowed in places where smoking is prohibited
