Newton International School

Has anybody else had any problems with Newton International School? My family arrived here in July and, guess what, all our preferred schools were full. Anyway, we got our kids into Newton and thought everything would be ok but since the term started I have started to get some serious doubts.

We were told there would be no more than about 20 kids in class but I counted over 30 in my son's class! I also noticed that some of the kids hardly speak English which is a shock as Newton is meant to be a British curriculum school.

Also, the classrooms seem to be severely under-resourced with not even enough tables and chairs for all the students. My daughter came home yesterday and said her teacher did not have enough pencils and books for everyone. Considering the fees I pay I at least expect my kids to get something to write with!

The teachers seem nice enough but most of them look a bit young, inexperienced and shell-shocked. I can't help thinking Newton management are under-prepared and have over-budgeted with starting up their new campus. I am very concerned about how this is going to affect my kid's education.

If anyone else has similar concerns i would like to hear about it.

Worried Mother's its nothing. One of ma neighbour for this session sent their ward to Shantiniketan Indian School Barwa. You cannot belive in that school AC is not working in almost all the classes even not in the staff room. She complained many times. Think of life without AC here and poor kids whole day is without AC there.

.... was opened very quickly.I am sure they will do improvement - just be a bit patient.I was just asking because our daughter is in the West Bay campus. We first thought of moving over to the new campus but I am glad we did not.

Good to know we are not alone with our concerns. I take your point about it being a new campus and I am willing to be patient but I have some serious reservations.

Financially I don't really have much choice but to leave my kids in Newton for this term. I am going to spend some time looking at other schools in the meantime and make comparisons. Thanks a lot for your feedback.

My scenerio is not very different from yours. My family arrived in July too. Like you said we had no choice but NIS. I have also concerns about this school but since this is a new campus so I am giving them a benifit of doubt. It could be the case with any new school.I suggest give them time to settle. I would wait for one term and see how it goes by then.
