Newton British Scool Al Waab
Hello..I am after any advice as a mattee of urgency. My son has been offered a place at Newton British School Al Waab. He will be starting year one. All I know is teachers are all british but the number of British students is very low. My son is in a. Outstanding primary school in the UK and I don't know if the moving him to Newton British School will be a pod move. Any advice or personal experiences would be most appreciated thanks
Hi All.
I was reviewing your comments because I am about to transfer my Kids (currently in Foundation 1 and 2) from Newton Lagoon to Newton British School. My experience in Newton Lagoon wasn't the best although they have very good setup and large facilities but I was frustrated with their assessment criteria starting this academic year which is almost over. The school has accepted a huge number of locals which means there is something wrong with the assessment criteria. The principal and coordinator for EYFS were taking my concerns about the classes and the diversity of students lightly. Maids for local students keep waiting for them INSIDE the school!!!
However, since NBS will not be the permanent school in which I want my kids to continue, I am still considering wither to proceed with transferring them (since I've already submitted a transfer request) or wait for another year there until they get admitted to DBS where I have submitted their applications for the previous 3 years.
Anyone who have been through the same before?Any advise?
Rds,
Adel
From my experience with the school (3 years) so far, the school is excellent, all the teachers are qualified, as well as the Principal; as they cannot get their RPs issued without submitting attested qualifications. My children are getting excellent education and are very happy being there. We never hired a private tutor for any subject. I was concerned at the beginning because of a few negative reviews I read about Newton but realised that the good reviews about the school are more than those few negative ones. My experience with the school so far is very satisfactory.
As an arabic child, he will always be speaking Arabic to his friends even if he's at an English School. I recommend hiring a private english teacher for maybe 2 hours a week, to make sure he is keeping up in school and so that he learn discipline in his learning. I do offer this, if you're interested you can email me at [email protected] or whatsapp me at 33034834. This way the tutor can talk with the teacher and figure out what is best for your son! This is what most families (Qatari) are doing now.
This has been the best school. I love it. There is a lot of cultural diversity and at this age, they need that. I dont regret it at all. Our daughter was there from KG2 through Grade1
People will always report the negative things about a school. From what I have heard about this school is that it is OK. I agree that you should check that the teachers are qualified teachers and not just grabbed off the street simply because they are British.
You should also be thankful that your child has a place at a school. Many are not so lucky.
I can understand your worries for having less British students, but what matters more, are those British teachers certified or not? Is the school principle certified and powerfull enough to run the school properly?
I Believe these are the two main questions you have to be after. A good example is Loydence academy in Azyzia..
you put "Newton school" in Google and check. There is one web site for expat teachers. I think there were adverse reports about this school. Please check. Doha British school, ASD, are better.
Why does it matter if there are less British students?
Sorry for some typing errors I meant I don't know if moving hi will be a good move!
