Doha, May 19 (QNA) - The Supreme Education Council (SEC) plans to open a branch of the 500-year-old prestigious British school of Sherborne in Doha in September. The opening of the Sherborne School came as part of the Outstanding Schools Initiative launched by the SEC in 2007. Sherborne’s Doha branch will be opened to students from all nationalities, and will initially offer kindergarten through to Year Six and rising annually to Year 13. Other classes will be opening in the next years. The students will be able to study the same subjects as taught in England and Wales, according to the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE), the A level tests and the International Baccalaureate (IB). Besides Sherborn''s academic programs, the students will also be involved in sports, drama, music and fine arts studies. "I am delighted to announce that Sherborne has been selected by the Supreme Education Council in Qatar to establish a branch campus this coming September,'''' chairman of the school''s governors Professor Richard Hodder Williams said.
