If your coming from Oz start applying to every school you can, My past experiance is unless you have a british passport or the company you work for sponsors the school its hard to get a place, also somthing else to think about is if your childs birthday falls before september you may find they will place them in the year above as school term starts september here and most schools follow the british system so they start here at four, my daughter is five this year so will be in year one and so on and so on. If you dont get to a school in time if you come from NSW try there didtance education programme you may need to do the schooling yourself but its a fantastic programme till you get them in to one. we have been using it like a summer school for my daughter so she can catch up for this year.

cheers

Dear Claire, I recently had an e-mail from Mrs Cardwell, who has now returned to Qatar. If you still have not been able tocontact her,I would try to telephone her at the school.

Hi,

I am hoping to start at newton international school with my partner in Sept. I urgently need to contact Mrs Cardwell but im struggling to find a contact number could you help at all?

The Newton International School follows the British National Curriculum and so the children are in "years", rather than "grades". (This is a bit confusing, if you are familiar with the American system.)

I am not quite sure how many of the present teachers are Australian. Mrs Irene Cardwell has been the principal since March of 2007 and I think that she wants to recruit experienced teachers who have been trained in the U.K.

At present, the school does not have a school website, but one is under construction and should be working soon.

Patty Did you email the Newman international school or have found any info about the school yet?

We are moving to Qatar Aug/Sep from Australia. The school would be great because it only goes to grade 3 which would help my kids settle in better.(smaller school)

I have emailed them for info.

Do you mean Newton Internation School. If this is what you mean than it is a new school to be opened in Sept for pre school through to grade 3. It will be located in West Bay in a couple of villas. The school follows the british system but has a large number of Australian teachers. I also understand that Shell has taken out a number of the spots in the school and that the school is looking at a Dutch speaking teacher. The school can be contracted through the QIS school or email [email protected].
