Not recommended, they runaway and are liars. Very bad experience. So very careful, can't trust them.

I have had an Ethiopian cleaning lady and found her to be very good. The only recommendations I have are to tell her or show her exactly what you want done or not done. That goes with any nationality. Secondly, I have told all my maids, if you break something - tell me. I can then replace it, accidents happen (I break things myself). I get ticked off if I go to use something and find it broken.

I have trusted my maids with my children, my house and my possessions and I have been fortunate in that only the possessions have suffered any "damage" - those I can replace. It is best to remember that we are all fallible human beings. If you're not paying your maid the same wages you earn - why would you expect more from her?

I had one Ethiopian maid/nanny as few years ago. She lied about her age and experience -- was much younger than stated on paperwork/passport, and had no experience with babies/kids -- despite having worked in Lebanon for several years (she must've been 14 when she was there!).

She learned English pretty quickly and followed directions, but you really had to take the time to SHOW her how to do stuff. Little common sense about stuff I would expect any normal person to know about. She was a decent cook and an okay cleaner. I would say she had very little initiative of her own -- though I find that to be true of most hired help here in Qatar.

She was lovely/kind/nice with my kid, so no complaints on that front, but she certainly wasn't very skilled or trained.

hello, from experience no.1 run away i had one but she did not have chance to run because i made her go home, fake age,no experience at all,had no common sense with any probable danger for kids, much of all and sorry to say this had to beg her to shower and even if she did she will wear the same dress she had on before taking the shower even i bought her many dresses and even though she was in that dress for one week, you need to teach a lot if you have time .good luck
