Mystery of the stained laundry

I have an LG top loading washing machine, now about 1 year old. After washing our laundry we have found numerous oil-like stains. Sometimes the stains are darker like that caused by coffee or tea. Almost every garment of mine has been damaged like this over a period of time. I was wondering first if if could be the fabric softner, since we would load the machine with washing powder, softner and start it later. Subsequently we stopped following this practice. But still the number of stains keeps on increasing. We were wondering if the houseboy must be dropping some cleaning fluid while washing the bathroom, but could not prove anything. A laundry worker opinioned that it could be the contents of the detergent itself which might be the culprit. Has anybody had a similar experience and how have they solved it?
I would suggest you to check the inline strainer/filter of your waterline,it could be clogged or broken ,allowing stain causing lumps of suspended particles settled in your overhead water storage tank.
Next would be to check your over head Water storage tank and clean if found dirty. It will take some time for the dirt to be dislodged from your pipes and will need flushing.
You may think about installing an inexpensive water filter with acrylic fibre cartridge and transparent housing so that you may see for yourself the exact cause and stop blaming the WM makers.

Water storage tanks on roof tops and at ground level of most of the buildings in Doha are perennially neglected and can cause serious health hazards to the public if they are not periodically cleaned, says a report published in a local Arabic daily.
“The plastic and metal substances with which these tanks are made include chemicals which can disintegrate under extreme heat and mix with the water stored in it. Consequently the water consumed by the public from these tanks through their taps in apartments and villas can endanger health.”
In a random survey it was found that even most of the residents were unaware of which particular tank caters to each one’s apartment. They were also not aware of the various types of water storage tanks and the need to wash and clean them periodically.
The head of the safe environment cell at the Supreme Council for Health, Dr Mohamed Ahmed Ali, had recently issued a statement advising the public on the necessity of cleaning the water storage tanks every six months.

Check the back of your shorts before washing as this may be a transfer stain.
I've an LG top loading and I've noticed the exact same thing.
And the stain doesn't come off after subsequent washes. I've had 3-4 really good shirts destroyed by this.
A slight stain on a shirt that I use for work renders it unusable.
Is this an LG thing ?
Ant01, i can't believe this coz i m also facing the same problem and my WM is 1yr old as well..I stopped putting new and costly clothes then..But the stains on our regular clothes kept on forming..Its really oily like or sometimes as if someone has dropped tea/coffee in it..We were hesitant to rush the agent coz v though it could have been the mistake from our side...But now i m sure, its not..Since i m not in DOHA at the moment, i will really let my husband to know about all these and would surely contact the DEALER..thnx a lot...
