MPEG-4 absorbs many of the features of MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 and other related standards, adding new features such as (extended) VRML support for 3D rendering, object-oriented composite files (including audio, video and VRML objects), support for externally-specified Digital Rights Management and various types of interactivity. AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) was standardized as an adjunct to MPEG-2 (as Part 7) before MPEG-4 was issued.-Tax Tiger

Good things:

It is possible to record programs in the form of .ts files, about 20 seconds takes 5Mb.

It supports Arabic language and that is good thing.

Bad things:

Some H frequencies can't be found on NileSat 7.0W-ku, just like 11488H & 11219H, while they can be founded on other receivers.

It has bad user experience regarding menus, it is not possible to search channels by letters.

I decided to return it back and bring another brand that has to support PVR, MPEG4 & Full-HD.

At Carrefour they have a Humax HD receiver (QR 745.-) HDMI output. It's worth the money!

Thanks Sree,

I landed the reciever in Smart Sat Service Center neat QTEL Signal. They added the satellite and tuned my choice channels. But again there was a problem with the reciever. It was out of control. It changed channels its own and displayed menu items without pressing anything on remote. I also returned it to the shop wher I purchased it and bought a Topfield reciever.

Don't worry its not a problem U can select any satellite but give the correct frequency and search U will get the same, I don't recommend Smartsat because its a bad quality one, Me and my friend purchased 2 nos and faced the software problem on both. We returned both to shop and purchased Star track receivers which is far better than smartsat.

Today I bought a Smart Sat SM 34 HD reciever from Lulu. I can't find Intelsat 17 in the list of 60 satellites in Dish setup. Please help me to setup the reciever from viewing Malayalam channels. Thanks in advance

I already bought Smart Sat Receiver.Actually, its good. HD output Quality(Best for LED TV) is very nice and main feature is, receiver itself search the available transponders in the particular satellite (for egs : Intelsat 17) and all the channels associated with it.Also It's very user friendly.

Only Indian channels are available in Intelsat 17. All Malayalam Channels (except Kaumudi, Mazhavil Manorama), Tamil Channels and some Kannada and Telugu also will receive in Intelsat 17.
