marriage

Hi
myself and my boyfried have been living here separately for some time now. We are both atheists and would normally live together in the UK. Would a Sharia court marry us here so that we can live together? The church here don't seem too keen to do it and we are tired of living appart.
Any ideas of how to go about getting married? Who to contact? etc.

I think the best thing is go back to your country, get married there, and then be back here. As simple as it is... :)

U can stop my Dream from Happening, But U cant make me stop dreaming. People will never appreciate U unless U appreciate yourself. God has created the man kind Free, why do we Enslave ourselves?. Only God can Judge me. Never mess with me unless you'r Ready to bleed

I am from the UK and got married here in Doha. Unfortunately Muslim laws do not apply. My marriage is recognised by UK law and UK divorces can get very, very messy, especially if children are involved. However I think that this thread has gone completely off the point of the question. Yes it is possible to get married here by your embassy, I did it. I have been with my husband for 10 years and we were never going to get married but it makes for an easier life when you are travelling around the world. Also you can be sponsored by your new husband and so avoid those nasty incidents whereby companies will not release people, we've all heard the stories...if you need any info on getting married here please PM me.

I would highly suggest asking someone who is actually from the UK. Even better if they are divorced. Of which I am neither.

As for the saying it three times, yes that's true.

communicate with them. Life is really hard here but harder there in our country. You love and patience will be properly rewarded, maybe not in this world but there......

Why ask me, I don't know anything about UK divorce laws...and it's easier to get a divorce if your Muslim, you just have to say "I divorce you." Three times.

better safe than sorry. You have divorce in UK, right, so no problem, you can always separate anytime and find a new partner, ask Gypsy? If you are caught making it on the beach, you will get a lesser fine unlike if you are not married, Big Problem!!!!

Yah your right. But human nature prevails, life for me is so lonely without my family. I am not use to this kind of feeling of abandonement.

It's also hard to accept what success and money can do to change people you knew, you love and cared for.

But well life for me, for my husband and for my son must go on. I am not alone, I have them....

we are all lonely in this world... we came alone to this world and will go alone from this word... all we have here are temporary relations family...friends etc...

So don’t expect anything in return...if you help them God will help you... the word love and care are diminishing from this world..its materialistic world... you are not alone.

We considered going abroad not 4 personal gain. I am married with 1 child. I considered myself well provided by my husband that's why I choose 2 become a housewife. We decided 2go abroad wen both our parents started 2get older,n order 2 help them financially since my husband's income in the Phils. can only support our family. We r both product of a close knit family, its hard 4 us not 2 help our old parents in times of financial crisis. Since, its our 1st time 2be away from the family circle, every1 shed bucket of tears, hugs, kisses & unstoppable txt of hellos & regards. Aftr 2 yrs, aftr helping them & other family members n need, things changed. No more txt messages, no more emails, no more hellos. Instead we got reply txt such as: sory we're too busy, sory we're not at home, sory I have no load. YM n nvisible mode. N short We r forgoten. How sad.. So lonely...

I was also living here with my partner but we decided to get married so we went to the British Embassy. You just go in and arrange it with them, you need your original birth certificates and passports. Its really easy. You can be married within 2 weeks of producing all your docs, provided no one objects!!! Good luck :)

And why go through all that rigamorale, when really, as long as they don't go advertising that they aren't married no one will know.
