Lost child in the Souq
My wife, I and our daughter were going back to the car park at the Souk Waqif this evening when I noticed a little girl, not more than 2 and half years old, walking, holding a small juice bottle. I thought to myself (some parents are so irresponsible to leave a child that age wondering around near the car park entrance) then both my wife and I realised that she was on her own, I asked my wife to follow her as she was going back in the direction of the Souk's main alley, my wife asked her in English then in Arabic: " where's your mum? What’s your name?" no reply from the little girl. A Qatari guy then told us he saw her pass by him 5 minutes earlier and he just realised that she's lost. We decided to go to the police station to see if her parents are looking for her, on the way there, her father found us, he looked completely shocked and was speechless, his eyes became teary and thanked us while trying to call his wife, he told us that they have been looking for her for 2 hours....I felt like having a go at him but then I thought, this can happen to anyone and he's already traumatized and the little girl seemed shocked as well.
Please be careful as your children are the most valuable thing in your lives.
Always pay extra attention and take extra care of the minors and the seniors
this is always happening in malls, park, etc... some parents are irresponsible... they just let their children play/run/walk alone without accompanying them... and when something will happen to their children they will blame other people... =(
Quite a few years ago, when Al Bidda park first opened on the Corniche, we were driving along the corniche when we spotted a 2 year old girl standing alone at the edge of the road. We stopped and I went to her to look for her parents. There were many families around as it was a Friday night but no one knew who the girl was. We didn't know what to do(this was before mobile phones) and it was impossible to park so we took her with us and drove repeatedly around the park for 1/2 an hour each time stopping to ask people if they knew who she was or if anyone was looking for her. Eventually we gave up and took her to the Capital Police station- her parents eventually picked her up 2 hours later! I often wonder how long it took for them to realise she was missing and whether they were actually looking for her.
Oh ALLAH! take care of every child...(AMEEN)
