I am looking for a live-in housemaid. I would greatly appreciate if anyone can advise me of the exact procedure to go about finding a reliable agency.
how much would the agency charges be and how is minimum wage i would have to pay to the maid.
usual rates range from 800qr all the way to 2300qr live in / full time basis. it really depends on the qualifications you are looking for.
expats tend to pay more as a rule, and as fer as i know the philippine government has a minimium salary req for maids set at 400$ US Dollars per month.
Make sure you Vett very carefully whoever comes into your home.
I have seen several ads in the Gulf Times about agencies arranging live-in maids. Check those out.
Regarding regulations, as far as I know, the maid should be directly under your/your family sponsorship. so you will have to arrange for their visa, RP, etc. Do not hire maids on somebody else sponsorship. thats illegal. but there are no other conditions i think.
I met a family recently who brought a live-in maid from south asia. they are paying about QR 3500 pm + food + accommodation. from what i understood from them, theres no minimum salary condition. it depends on the market rate. thats all.
the governemnt here imposes restriction on maid visas for some nationalities. I think right now, Indian, Nepal and Pakistani maid visas are stopped. You can know the exact status from the labour dept office on C Ring road.
