Kitten Vaccinations
Hi
I just have a quick question about kitten vaccinations.
I have two kittens that are now 4 and a half months old, yesterday I took them to the Department for Animal Resources on Airport Rd as I had heard they give vaccinations for free.
The only vaccination they gave the kittens was the one for rabies and when I asked if they needed any others I was told no. After speaking to a few friends they were under the impression that they should at least have rabies shot and one for cat leukemia. Can anyone clarify this please?
Thanks
and see Dr Dominic or Dr Khalid (Tel: 436 7187). We have rescued and homed 8 little guys from the street and they have all been vaccinated and treated by Doha Vets. In 2 cases, the little guys were brought back to health from very bad conditions when we had little hope of them surviving at all. We kept 4 of the little guys for ourselves and they receive wonderful treatment from this surgery (we had tried other places but our experience was not as good). The animals are treated with love and humanity, the facilities are good and the vets use alternative treatments when conventional treatments are not working. They will even come to your home to do the vaccinations - which is what we do given we have 4 of the little tikes! Good luck and thank you so much for loving these little guys and looking after them well. If only more people would do the same .....
Thanks everyone lots of information for me and I will be getting in touch with another vets.
El Zohiry I am not suprised about your advice not to go back, I was disgusted at the standard of hygiene and wouldn't let the vet put my kittens on the steel table to be vaccinated as there was fur and blood from aprevious operation and four cats unconscious on the opposite side of the table.
I understand that it is a government run operation and am grateful that it is offered but feel that there should at least be basic standards of health and hygiene for every animal.
Thanks again
I did a google search for cat vaccinations and these are just two out of many websites offering good information for cat vaccinations. Take care of your little friends and they'll give you there lifetime of love.

I beleive the Vets can special order other vaccinations you may require for your pets. You need a vet liscense to order them. I had friends who were dog breeders and they had a liscense to order vaccinations and medicines that the vets did not have. Look online for what is required of there age and then ask the vet if they don't have if they'll order it for you.
Yes, Mandi. Had I know beforehand that their vaccine is only the triple and the quadruple, I'd have tried the other practice (Dr Paul's), even if they're a bit more expensive.
Thank you for the info, Fatcat, you're the expert! I have to get my little foundling vaccinated soon.
Mandi
you may check there is one clinc on Al Khaleej St. they are good and not so expensive. i would like to advise you not to go any more to this Airport clinic they made my cat sick before.
Doha Vets only have the vaccine for three diseases, not the one for four diseases. Be careful. I only found this out after I compared the vaccines that my cats previously had to the one they were given at Doha Vets.
Call the Doha Vet clinic (sorry, don't have the number but the website is dohavets.com.) The very nice receptionist will tell you what's needed at that age. And bless you for caring.
