I went for the car inspection and failed on two items, (technical items), fire extinguiser and the licence plate bulb. I have had these addressed now. THe question is do you also have to pass the Legal test?

Or if you fail the technical do you automatically fail the legal?

Under mine on the legal section, it mentions an unauthorised rear curtain and tinted windows. However, the guy at the counter only told me to address the technical items.

I just wish to know whether I will be OK with the rear window curtain and tinted windows. Millions to cars have them! Surely I don't have to have them removed?

Just like to make sure before getting a reinspection done.

Many thanks.

With the rear curtain blind fully retracted, the issue did not even appear on the reinspection sheet, just as princeabdullah19 says. Passed no problems at the reinspection. There was no need to remove it.

Went to Madinat Khalifa afterwards, police handed out the Istarama no problem.

Dmigtysolomon, you should not make assumptions. The rear curtain was not installed by me. It was part of the original specification that came with the car. Someone else has f**ked up along the way and it is my problem.

U should have removed the rear curtain.. I make sure that I have removed the rear curtain to avoid going to police.

Yeah, remove the rear curtain and technical people will not mention that in re-inspection report..... I bet that..

Good Luck

before you installed this tint and curtain, you should have gotten a permit. Since you preferred the hard way, you should go now to police to secure one. Hope that they will not make it an issue to you that you did it first before permit. It should be permit first. As everybody suggested, secure the permit at the appropiate police stations.

Why do peolple insists what they want to follow and get rid of something that could be easily done, legal ways are in place to follow for the common good of all.

I beleive as long as the curtins are open and not closed they might not say anything other wise if he does not sign unless you take them down then try to see an easy way if you can take them down on the site to get the signature.

Thanks for the comments. I'm not to worried about the tinted windows, these are passenger sides, back two. It was cheaply done and can be removed cheaply ,if the Police say so.

What about the rear curtain, it was up during inspection, can I leave it down during the reinspection? It is noted on the Legal requirements. Do I have to remove this?

1. Make sure the fire extinguiser is in the car in its proper place.

2. the licence plate bulb should be replaced and working to pass the car for the tech. inspection

those 2 items should be done firtly in order to pass the major part of your renewal.

for the final signature that is from the police. they normaly dont want to see the tint on the front window the 2 side front windows and the rear window.

I normaly take them off and replace them after passing the signature.

i am not sure, i have all sort stories that the police ripped your tinted window because you cant show them the permit.

If i were you, i will not see the police without the permit. Just in case ...

Thank you again. Would it be possible to complete the reinspection first and then go to Madinat Khalifa police to get the Permit and Istamara renewal?

you have to go to the traffic police in Madina to get the tinted window permit. Last time was QR 25. And i paid QR 50 to the runner to run around and doing the paperwork.

Thanks for the reply. Do I have to go to the Traffic Department to get a permit first for the tinted windows and rear window curtain? Or can this be sorted at the test centre with the police?

if you have tinted window, you will have to get the permit from the traffic police. When you do the inspection, you will still 'failed' for the legal section. You just show the permit to the police on the test centre then the police will sign your document.
