Help at home is available privately. There is a midwife on this site that goes under the name of Nata she is a fellow australian and she does home visits after you leave hospital to help you baby care, feeding and just overall parenting advice.
I guess people have different experiences.
I can only comment on mine and it was pretty good. except maybe for the after care but I don't think it exists in any hospital. You are send home with a newborn and no help or advice...Very different from Europe especially if you don't have any family here but I guess you managed after all being a parent is a lot about instinct!
Congratulations!
In the health centers, they have health educators who do antenatal classes. you can PM me if you need more info about them..
If you believe, you will receive what you ask for in prayer
CONGRATULATIONS, IT'S SO GREAT TO BE A MOTHER THO, LOL.
JUST ONE COMMENT, WHY DID YOU CHOOSE SUCH A SCARY TITLE FOR YOUR POST? HEHEHEHEHEH.
YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN, SOME MEN FEEL AFRAID OF HEARING THIS (I'M PREGNANT). HEHEHE
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
I've heard that Al Ahli hospital is good, but I wasn't satisfied.
I got married a year a go and I've decided to look for a good doctor for
general checkups especially when I get pregnant. And I am trying to conceive
(if anyone has tips about this, I will be thankful)
I've started with the Ahli
Hospital and every time I
go for my appointment with one of the doctors I got transferred to a different
one.
I was not satisfied with any of the doctors. I’ve decided to go to Doha
Clinic and see Dr. Maha.
She is good, but the amount of patients she sees everyday doesn’t help her
to give each patient her full attention.
I had problems with my uterus and Dr. Maha described me a medicine for 2
weeks and next time I went to her for general checkup and asked her if she needs
to check about the problem again, she said no need because for sure the problem
is solved, but my husband & I insisted; she checked and turned out that I
still have the problem.
but she is the kind of doctor that follows up with the pregnant woman from the beginning to the end.
and if your requested, she will deliver your baby.
and she always has round checkups on her patients that just gave birth on a daily basis.
Bottom line I am still looking for a good doctor.

It all depends what type of room you required.
Single/VIP or Royal. Single room are great.
I would recommend that you get the price list from the hospital itself as prices go up quite regularly it seems.
I can give you the price for single room from back in January:
Normal delivery + 2 days - 7400
Normal delivery + 2 days + vakkum/forceps = 7900
CS + 4 days = 13800
You should alwasy except to pay more though. My baby had jaundice and we ended up paying 20000.
Hope this helps!
congratulations Girl,
may Allaha bless you and your bundel of joy.....
may he keep you in all health....
Life is a mystery..... you never know whats next.....
how much is the consultation fee of Dr.Samira?
Does anyone have an idea how much it is to give birth at Al Ahli,
CS and Normal delivery?
kim, she already told us about her experience with that doctor and also update us with her current doctor. We are just sharing information we had whether is from experience or from researching now.
Conratulations and take good care of yourself
Live and let live...
Everybody is prescribing other doctors but nobody is telling her about the doctor she asked about.........
Thanks mimi37 for the infomation. Is just things are different back home. There we see the same doctor from begining and the same doctor at birth. Even check up after delivery is done by the same doctor.
You can check out their website at www.aspire.qa
There are next to the Villagio (mall). It's quite cheap I think...
If you join the antenatal classes at Al Ahli hospital the midwives might even organised some swimming classes. I did some towards the end of my pregnancy and it was fantastic (nice to feel a bit lighter!!) highly recommended...
oh great, swimming in Aspire??! Where is this exactly and do you know how much it will cost?
Dearest greetings!
Do you do hypnosis for weight loss?
Thanks,
Nadene

Do you know, its so great to see how you guys are offering advice - give yourselves a pat on the back. It must be very scary being pregnant for the first time in a foreign country. Thank goodness for this website hey?
There's a prenatal excercise thingy in Aspire you might wanna check it out. They say swimming is also good in the late months of pregnancy.
Hi Bumblebee,
It proved to be difficult to keep the same doctor during the whole time (bearing in mind that I only arrive in Qatar back in November) but to be honest it did not really matter as all the doctors I did see were really good. As for the delivery I had a planned ceasarian (my baby was a in a breech position) so Doctor Rizvik did the operation and everything went well.
I think you can't really require to have the same doctor at birth as he might not be there when you deliver but I would not worry too much about it as everyone seemed to be highly qualified...
cool.. mimi37, I just want to know that do you consult the same doctor from the beginning till the end or different doctor in your each visit? And does the same doctor deliver your baby?
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
Congratulations!
Hopefully everyone has answered all your queries about Al Ahli. If you need anymore info just let me know. I gave birth there beginning of Jan and I had a very good experience.
Enjoy your pregnancy :)
Maeleka, Dr. Samira is one of the doctor in Al Ahli Hospital. I think beside Dr. Stefan, Al Ahli has another western gynae but is a male doctor.
There is a German gynae at al ahli called Dr Stefan, have no experience of his care but he is western.
Hi
Can you tell me about this doctor Samira, how is her english??
Can you really recommend her?
Where do I find her?
I need a good gynaecologist and had untill now only had bad experiences in Doha.
Regards
M
Hi,
I read your recommendation about Dr Amal Badi, I need to see a good gynaecologist and would really prefer a European/Western doctor. But would you say this Dr. Amal is totally up to the standard we are used to in the West. Untill now I've had so pretty bad experiences in Doha.
Regards
M
i was reading your post and was about to recommend Dr. Samira when i saw you have already seen her! she is my doctor and my friends doctor and she is simply fantastic!! i have seen other doctors at al ahli but she is definately the best one.

no I'd rather a midwife, I'm a trained midwife and I can guarantee that midwives know as much as the doctors and plus they are experienced (more so than doctors) in antenatal and post natal care in particular...spose it depends on where the 'midwife' trained as there is a difference from obstetric nurses and midwives..
Oh that's so sweet of you Da!
May Allah Bless you with Twins a boy and a girl. :P

Suprenurse, yes they do have midwives but after paying so much consultation fee, don't you prefer to have a specialist Dr. besides just midwives?
Do they not have midwives at Al Ahli? Don't midwives do the check ups?
Thank you so much about your homeworks! That´s good to know.....
Dr. Samira is a wonderful doctor!!!
I´m so happy to found her....
Thank you for your comments.
I have to agree on Dr. Samira as well...she seems to be overshadowed by Dr. Rizvi there but I found her to be a wonderful Doctor.
Good choice weißeOrchidee
*Be aware though, at Al Ahli the person who ends up delivering your baby probably will not be your doctor.
Hey, I had done some homework. Here are the update:
Dr. Rizvi is now one of the director in Al Ahli. As to Dr Stefan and Dr Samira, both of them are the consultant in Al Ahli. So they should be better than other doctors there as they refer to as specialist.
Congrats to you......

Hi,
i found my perfect doctor. It´s dr. Samira, (Al Ahli) she´s very kind and knows her stuff. I´m so happy to found her!
Now, i am in the 6week of pregnancy and we heard already the heardbeat yesterday! :-))))
Best wishes to all.....
congratulations. Bit of a side note but I did hypnotherapy for childbirth and it was great, I got through relatively pain free with just gas and air. If you google it under maggie howell you can buy the cds online :)
Dr Amal Badi has a private clinic in the tall building opp. Toys are us (I think it's the Kemco building, formally Gemco!!!), I've been seeing her for years as have lots of my friends. Really nice and down to earth and she also does ultrasound herself on the premises. I would highly recommend her. Tel. 4324349. Her english is perfect and I believe she will attend births at private hospitals but as I had all my kids in UK I can't confirm this, but she saw me before, during and after all my births.
congratulations!
My wife is also, she is due in July.
SB
Thanks for the up date and please do keep us update!
Next time i will have an appointment with Dr. Samira. I´m suprise how she will be :-))) But she is also very busy....because of Operations.
It´s not easy to find the perfekt one....there are so many Doctors... and i have no idea! Rizivi is leaving soon, so i´ll have no choice to met her. Maybe next time???
Dr. Zeith doesn´t exist in Al Ahli Hospital!
But, very thanks to all of you.
Greetings,
"weißeOrchidee"
deadlydesi/ novita, just wonder does Al Ahli allows you to choose whichever Dr. you want? I mean change Dr. everytime you go back for routine check up.
hv u ask for Dr.Risvi?
Try to get appointment with Dr. Zeinth
She is the most seniour and experianced staff in Qatar
Did she subscribe to you folic acid which is essential for the growth of your baby?
yesterday I was at Al Ahli Hospital to dr. Sheena. Communication was a bit difficult between us....., she made an Ultrasound, but it was to early to see heartbeat and so on, she told me nothing about pregnancy,....and next time I will go to another doctor. Does anybody know a good english speaking doctor with good "know how"? Dr. Nebras?????.....
Please help me to choose the right doctor!....
Best wishes.
Congrate Monica!
Hey dear, congrats once again. I know about Al Ahli, its a good and huge hospitial with all world class instruments. They are famous for their hospitality & the care given to the patients by the staffs (except some at various labs there), the charges at the hospital is high when compared to other private clinics, but if you have insurance coverage its good.
Anyways, you will get more than what you expect from this hospital, Dr. Najla & Rizivi are also famous there.
Best of lucks, take care of you health....
Congrate Monica!
Everything good? Doctors good, staff good, facilities good, treatment good? No wonder so pricey. But if all is good then worth paying. Afterall all that is the most important for the mother and baby.
Al Ahli is a good hospital I gave birth there 3 months ago.
Congrate!
Al Ahli.. heard that they are good although is pricey.
for writing me back so quickly! :-))
I am sure you so much happy,Al Ahli great place they will take good care of you
