Homeschooling & adjusting

Good Morning,

I am trying to reply to RSTJONES comments on homeschooling - I would love to discuss further your recent move to Doha and how you are adjusting and if you have any advice on anything that we need to make sure we bring. We have not moved there yet but expect to move sometime this fall. I do have our school trunks packed. What curriculum do you use? I have combined several for my first/second grader and preschooler. We are also using Rosetta Stone to teach us Arabic.   Thanks for your help

Hi i just came accross your post and was wondering if you are in Doha, i have a 8 year old son who from this year i am planning on home schooling, the private school he went to until before summer this year has hiked his fees up and i dont feel the level of education is satisfactory. Though i have no prior experience in home schooling i am keen to start asap, i too have joined the yahoo homeschoolers group hre in doha, but need help figuring out what curicullum is best for my son. I would love to know what you have come up with. Would appreciate some feed back as to what you are doing.

Regards

Ketki

Hi Kjkabell-

I am also looking for homeschooling network here in Qatar. Please keep me update if you find anything and I will post mine as well.

How old are your kids? I have 2 girls, 7 and 5. They will be in 3rd and 1st grade. My husband and I plan to hire a private teacher for homeschooling. It would be great if there are more kids to join in. We are from Florida.

I am having difficult time looking for school here in Doha and of course the fees are so expensive.

Sincerely,

My wife and I are considering moving to Qatar and we homeschool. Do you know any more specifics about homeschooling networks in Qatar? Is it publicly accepted and legal to homeschool as an ex-pat? Thanks for any information.

The contact information in the Marhaba is not up to date at this time so either email me ([email protected]) or better yet join the yahoo group.

Have a great day!

Hello,

From what I know there is a homeschooling network in Qatar. The parents organize educational field trips and create opportunities for the kids to socialize. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with all the details as my own child is only 4 months old.

But, I have a friend who is involved so hopefully once you arrive you will be able to network with the rest of the homeschoolers.

I will be seeing her in the next month, so I will try to forward on the information.

Hope you enjoy Qatar.
