Can anyone help me, I will be starting work in Doha in September my wife and daughter will follow after 1-2 months we are expecting our second child (due in February) and my wife and I are concerned about whether this will cause any delays in her obtaining a residency visa. Also we would like to know how good the medical services are and how expensive (private or local).
Your help will be greatly appreciated

nothing to worry,i had two daughter from hamed medicals they where good and the staff also very good and corporative. After delivery you have to arrange someone to look after your wife and kids(i prefer your parents or relatives) hospital role is only until delivery but most imported part is after delivery. The first delivery may be in your home town so your people around you now you are alone but this the time man can learn a lot of things which will make bond among your family.

My colleague at the office is an Omani and she has given birth here in Qatar twice. She says that the best and most professional is Al Ahli Hospital.

Congratulations again in having a baby... let me know your feedback once you get here, coz my wife and I are planning to have kids next year.

Cheers and welcome to Qatar..

Nothing to worry about... They will want to do a chest x-ray for the residence permit, though,(this is standard for everyone) but if you are pregnant you can get out of it- just make sure you insist on missing it, they might not suggest that.

We had our first 15 months ago at Doha Clinic, and baby #2 is on the way. We're going back there and wouldn't think of leaving Doha to give birth.

Hello Maddog,

Congrats on the new baby, and good luck with you rmove to Qatar.

My wife and I had our first daughter born here in January, and let me tell you its not bad at all.

As others have said Hamad Hospital is very cheap/almost free from what I hear, but we opted for a private hospital anyways. There are at LEAST 3 (that we looked at) and were all excellent. There's Imadi Hospital, Al Ahli Hospital, and Doha Clinic Hospital.

In the end, we settled on Doha Clinic Hospital (because of its proximity, and the fact that they would allow me into the operating theater in case of a c-section). The rate we were quoted (back in Januray) was 5,000 Qatari riyals if it was a normal birth, and it could go up tp a maximum of 10,000 in case of an emergency C-section.

The staff was extremely professional...all spoke english...all were very polite. The rooms and the overall post delivery service was excellent, and we were very pleased. We whave no hesitation in recommending this hospital, and will chose it again if we ever have another child.

Hope that helps, and once again good luck with everything!

Be safe all.

Perfection does not exist. The question therefore, is: what level of imperfection are we willing to settle for?

Shouldn,t need to worry, my wife due in October.

Hamad (the local free health service) is good but you can't get in during delivery.

if you go private then its costs about 5-10,000 QR but very good hotel style service.

Best of luck
