A few questions regarding Hamad Womens Hospital?

Hey guys,

Im about to have my second baby anyday at Hamad and I have no idea about how the system that goes on here. I had my baby girl in Sydney when I was living there with my rents but due to personal reasons I had to move here in my 7th month. I have a lot of things going on in my mind, esp since this place is new and apart from my husband I dont know or have anyone here.

First off, previous delivery I was told to come to the hospital when my contractions were about 2-3 min apart, what is the system here? When should I go the hospital?

Another important one, do the doctors on routine perform epitomizes and give epidurals?

Till now all my appointments have been with male gynecologists, how and who do I request to on having only females during my delivery?

When the baby is born what is the exact checkups they perform and what vaccinations are they given?

How long do you stay for normal delivery and for a c-section?

And before discharging do they complete the new born checkups i.e hearing heart etc or do i have to come separately for that?

Last question isnt that important but just wanted to ask, anyone know how one can book a private room for the night?

Ive tried to ask around in the hospital but i havent had any straight answers. Can someone please let me know asap from experience? I will be highly greatful!

Thanks

Hello, I did not have any experience delivering in hamad but most of my friends are. As for them, you can go there if your contraction really close and as a woman you know it special from your previous delivery. And you can request or they will ask you if you want epidural or not. Normal delivery in hamad is maximum 1 or 2 days. Cs is max 1 week. New born normally take there 1st shot of vaccination but sometimes you will comeback for that a day or two if they don't, and new born screening too. And you can booked ahead of the private rooms, just call ahead of time. They will not discharge you if you and your baby still not fit so don't worry about that. Hamad is a very good hospital and technology wise so don't worry. But anyhow if you husband have private health insurance you can just go to private hospital for more easy request. Hope it will help,
