English School in Doha
By precious_11 •
Does anybody know of any English school with vacancies for reception class?
I would be moving to Doha by the end of september and would like some advice on schools and my options if I can not get a spot for my 4yrs old daughter in any of the English schools.
Thanks in advance

This new school has recently opened in Al Waab (just round the corner from Villaggio). As far as I know, there are places available.
Doha Montessori & British School has so far been very good for my child. It is early days though (having completed just one month prior to the ten-week summer break and the new classes only re-started last week...).
is this a good school, can you share your experience
This topic seems to crop up on QL with amazing regularity. I suppose the problem is that there just are not enough schools in Doha, yet more and more expats pour in every year.
I have the same situation as I might move to Doha soon subject to find a place for my 2 kids (KG1 & Year1) as I searched a lot with many schools but all of them are full.
Even I'm trying to let my kids join the school in the begining of the second term but still the matter is so difficult.
I might lose the job due to that reason.
If anyone can advice, please do.
Thanks.
to the Canadian School! She was excellent. We'll probably stay put though as my little one really loves the Doha Montessori and once again has a very good teacher. But it's the first time as an expatriate that I've had to pay 100% school fees out of my own pocket.

So sad...The best schools are the most expensive.
Try Canadian school, it's not expensive and very-very good! It's expanding and now open for public

school fees - we get ZERO percent from ours...
Some companies don't pay for the nurseries and kindergartens. So it's better to send your 4-years old child to a school - the same kinddergarten but with educational games! Аnd 100% reimbursed by your company.
My 4 and half old son is going to this kindergarten.Just started classes on 07th.You will find mixed nationalities over there. To start with it seems ok.If you are interested i will get you the details within a day or two.
You can try Cedars School, they have some slots and they are 100 % Brits but they are some how expensive !!!

I think they have few spots in reception in Compass School. But this school is extremely expensive - and it's worth it if you send your child there!!! Kids are mostly from Europe and USA. A very good school!!!

but I rang all the schools listed, Supernurse, and was told that they were all choc full in Sept '08 (when we arrived here in May)! In despair, I visited one over-subscribed English speaking school and spoke to the Headteacher in person. We had a brief interview on the spot and my child was accepted immediately. We have British passports and I think the English speaking schools are keen to offer spaces to those whose first language is English. I might add that I've met some wonderful families of all nationalities there. I guess we were lucky, and I accept the 70-minute commute twice a day as a result!
Which nationality of expats?
English schools in Qatar by telephone to the Admissions Depts (some have even frozen their application facility via Internet). I recommend visiting the schools with your child/children IN PERSON. Depending on your nationality, places can suddenly materialise!! Good Luck...
I saw a few and most are full, also I would like put in her in a school recommeded by experienced Expartriates.
theres loads! go on the search button for schools, theres loads of info about schools and opinions on them all...
Can you recommend them? if not is it possible to give me names or url of some good kingdargarten
Well, mines at kingdergarten at the mo, they go up to 5 years old!
Thanks for your comments. so what school do you use or suggest to use while the child is on waiting list?
oooohhhh, you would have to be lucky indeed! We've had our daughter on the waiting list for a popular British school here from the age of 2 to start at 4!
